Everything everyone has ever done is primarily focused on reducing or eliminating or avoiding pain. There isn't any other motivation to do anything. If God took away pain there wouldn't be any motivation to do anything.

Our curiosity might motivate us to do things, but the results never would matter. Nothing bad could ever come of them. We better include mental pain also. Nothing would ever be distressing or uncomfortable.
